                 12th GSF 2016 - Seoul, South Korea

SPEED's highlight annual event for the year 2016 occurs from November 4th to 6th in Seoul, South Korea. The event is organized in conjunction with the World Engineering Education Forum 2016Through this week long event, students will be a part of an international experience, submerged in the atmosphere of cross-cultural communication and creative thinking. Participants will take part in workshops aimed at providing them with tools to find innovative solutions with a global perspective and apply them in their local communities. They will get a chance to learn about already existing student projects, get involved and/or start their own regional and global initiatives with the aim of maximizing the student voice within the engineering education community.

    "Empowering the Millenials"

The theme for SPEED’s Global Student Forum this year is, “Empowering the Millennials”. This theme is an amalgamation of SPEED's mission of empowering students to create change for themselves and their communities, and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) forwarded by the United Nations. The four tracks for the GSF are in-line with the MDGs:

    1. Eradicate extreme poverty & hunger

    2. Achieve universal primary education

    3. Promote gender equality & empower women

    4. Ensure Environmental Sustainability

In addition to these tracks, the theme for the forum also upholds the MDG of “Global Partnership for Development”, as participants from diverse backgrounds will come together to generate action plans to meet these goals for populations of their interest. At the GSF this year, Millennials from around the globe will work towards meeting these MDGs via the means of engineering education and its development.
