We are an Awesome Team of
students passionate about our Engineering Education

SPEED is a global, non-profit student organization that functions as an interdisciplinary
network of engineering students, who aspire to provide opinion and create an impact on future development of
engineering education and its effect on society and environment. SPEED was founded by student participants of the
1st Global Student Forum (GSF) in October 2006 during the 5th Global Colloquium on Engineering Education (GCEE),
organised by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

SPEED strives to empower students to become a factor of change in EE by providing them with the skills, knowledge and resources necessary to become a global engineer and show them how they can think globally and act locally.

Through engineering education initiatives and collaboration with academia, industry, society and government, SPEED is committed to improving the future of engineering education whilst embracing the considerable engineering challenges being faced in the 21st century.

Our Goals

  • The purpose of SPEED is to advance engineering education (EE) by providing a platform for global communication about EE.
  • Building a support network for students.
  • Empowering students interested in EE to take action locally and globally in improving their own educational environments.
  • SPEED provides a necessary perspective to EE policymakers to promote an EE system that is productive, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
